Smart City Entrepreneurs Provided BTM

The Smart City Awards, given for the first time this year by Istanbul Informatics and Smart City Technologies Inc. (ISBAK), a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, have found their owners. The project, which is considered to become a tradition and whose main theme is ‘Smart City Entrepreneurs’, came second and first in the category, was created by the entrepreneurs of the Information Commercialization Center (BTM) established by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.

MORE THAN 500 APPLICATIONS

More than 500 applications were received for the ‘Smart City Entrepreneurs’ competition, which was held within the scope of the World Cities Congress Istanbul’18 held between April 17-19 and was organized with the cooperation of ISBAK and BTM and encourages the development of ideas and projects aimed at increasing the quality of urban life within the framework of sustainability and livability principles in the smart city field.

SMART TRANSPORTATION

As a result of the evaluations made by the jury, the Bavulier Project, which was the idea of ​​BTM entrepreneurs Gökhan Kaptan and Onur Türk, came in second in the Smart City Entrepreneurs Awards and received a cash prize of 10 thousand TL. On the other hand, in the Innovative Solutions Category of the competition, another BTM entrepreneur, İlhan Kurtuluş Çıklaiblikçi’s ‘New Generation Generator Project for Wind and Stream Turbines’ and in the Smart Transportation Category, Umut Karadirek’s ‘ULAKOPTER Urban Smart Distribution System Project’ came in first in their categories. Both project owners were presented with tablets and plaques.

EXPERT SUPPORT

In the competition, Lütfi Mutlu’s ‘Smart Disabled Vehicle’ came in first and received a prize of 20 thousand TL, while Göktuğ İslamoğlu’s ‘CapturaIts Vehicle Synchronization Protocol’ came in third and received a prize of 5 thousand TL. The common feature of the participants in the competition was that they all prepared their presentations under the guidance of BTM professionals. Entrepreneurs also presented their projects to the jury members for final evaluation at BTM. Entrepreneurs participating in the competition also benefited from the booth opportunities in the start-up area at the congress.

THEY ARE PREPARING TO FACE INVESTORS

The Information Commercialization Center (BTM), founded by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and supported by the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), continues to support its members with innovative business ideas in developing their projects with the units of the ‘Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Office’, ‘Business Development and Innovation Office’ and ‘Brand and Patent Office’.

ON MAY 9

Within the scope of the ‘Information Commercialization Workshop’ and ‘New Born Company Unit’, which are Pre-Incubation Centers and Incubation Centers; the BTM team, which offers all kinds of opportunities that start-ups may need, helped BTM member teams prepare their project presentations before the ‘BTM Sahne Investor-Entrepreneur Meeting’ event to be held on Wednesday, May 9. The BTM team, who listened to the teams that wanted to take part in the BTM Sahne at the BTM Pre-Stage event; listened to presentations that included team introduction, project purpose, needs analysis and market analysis, target audience, competition analysis, income model, sustainability and financial approach headings and subheadings.

BTM teams reminded entrepreneurs which topics investors care about more and therefore the points that must be included in presentations, and also emphasized important details in terms of presentation techniques so that teams can be more effective during the presentation.
